Dying with Grace

Death has a funny way of freaking us the eff out.  It was never intended to be met with such fear.

I once facilitated a conversation for a family whose matriarch had just passed away.    The daughter sitting before me asked her mother what death had felt like.  Mama (on the other side) responded that it felt like an orgasm.  If you can give into the joy and let yourself relax, the return to God/Source is triumphant!  Probably not the message her family expected, but it brought me such clarity and delight I try to always share her perspective.

Jesus also taught us much about how to die with grace.  Though His legacy may sound frightening, He walked his path with courage, grace and certainty.  Fear was not a part of His journey, nor should it be a part of ours.  Death is a portal, afterall!  A gateway to our return to God.  And this return should be celebrated, even heralded, not fraught with fear and unease.

When death can be embraced, it's magical.  A perfect bow on the finely wrapped gift of life.  When fear and regret seep in, death is ugly, prolonged trying and tedious.  The infamous death scene in Dark Crystal is an ideal example of how death can be greeted! the Skeksis holding onto greed and power wither in anguish and crumble into a pile of dust while the Mystics, a spiritual and peaceful race, dies with a smile and his body turns to light.

The wisest of us knows when to step back and rest in the arms of the Divine.

To help those we love die with grace, we can:

- talk with them and create a safe space for sharing whatever they may need, allow a place to air regrets and make amends
- hold them in unconditional love and joy
- allow forgiveness (of self and others)
- talk about death and what they can expect
- give them permission to let go
- remind them of the friends and family they can soon reconnect with

Spirit has asked me to talk as much as I can about dying with grace.  How to greet it, how to embrace it and how to celebrate it.  I've done several presentations around Denver on the topic and love sharing my shamanic perspective on death and dying.  If I can share this with a group you love, please give me a holla!

the Egyptian Mystery

Why is there such a fascination with Egyptian spirituality? I often try and distance myself from my fondness, for fear of not wanting to be seen as obsessed.  This friction inspired a need to understand (and maybe even justify for myself) why so many people are intrigued by the enduring legacy of Egypt.

Egyptians are among the oldest (documented) cultures on the planet.  They also captured more wisdom through their writings and funerary practices than any other civilization.  We are intrigued not because of its proliferation, not just because of its longevity, but because we feel compelled, called to even the teachings that lie within.

The practices of magic and metaphysics are well chronicled.  Many of us can write it off as incantations and malarkey that hold little to no real power.  But don't be so fast to dismiss... there is a reason you know of Tut's Curse... because the Magic was so potent and powerful that it lasts thousands of years later.

For the Egyptians spirituality was metaphysical... period.  Every hieroglyph, every ornamentation, every site was imbued with spells, blessings and devotion to God, acknowledging a pervasive awareness of something bigger than just the here and now.  For the highly initiated, immortality-- mastery of the physical world and incantations-- were powerful tools given only to those focused individuals who dedicated their lives to understanding.

In this lifetime I have completed an Egyptian Mystery School granting access to ancient knowledge passed verbally from teacher to student throughout the ages.  At the time I began, I was baffled!  I was not interested in the teachings nor was I seeking a spiritual path.  This lineage found me... and out of nowhere I found the time and money to attend.   I truly couldn't have missed out, for it's legacy was so persistent within my being. My soul knew these memories and yearned for a reminder. When in perfect alignment, things have a way of working our perfectly.  So it was when the path found me again.

The Mystery Schools were secret only to protect the knowledge, the powerful teachings, from getting in the wrong hands.  Lengthy initiation practices ensured the students could hold within their mind and psyche the potent teachings within.  The establishment of Mystery Schools ensured sincerity in the teachings and beneficent use of the tools and techniques.  To allow these things in the hands of the greedy, inauthentic or power hungry would have been folly indeed.

I often see the Mentoring Program as a living Mystery School.  We actively remember and practice these healing techniques that are so beneficial.  There's a reason we feel giddy afterward.... we are tapping into ancient and powerful memories!

I can recall several lifetimes only few of which occur in Egypt, yet it is from their traditions-- well documented and with proven longevity-- that much knowledge of healing comes.

So even while I myself want to not be so fascinated, I am!  I can remember (in my hands, in my bones, in my heart) how effective their methods are and for this reason, I can't get enough.  So be a hater if you'd like, but know when you step your sweetness onto my table, the full force of the Mysteries will be of the greatest assistance in your healing!

Digging on Dave Grohl

Ok, I'm a turd... never really a fan of Nirvana, I was a Pearl Jam snob and believed their grunge was the only one to follow.  (For the record, I still am a committed fan of PJ but can respect that Nirvana paved the way for a mainstream appreciation of the alternative rock scene that sound tracked my teen years.) On this the anniversary of Kurt's death, I turned my attention to Dave Grohl for his brand of wisdom.

Dave is my type... deep and real without pretension, a committed artist through and through with respect for his craft and a creative genius that gets me revved up in all the right places.  Plus, I dig drummers.  And in case you need more reasons to crush on him, watch his SXSW Keynote!

Me and the hubby watched Sound City on our date night, a documentary by Dave about the Sound City recording studio.  It was not only a history of the legendary place, but more importantly a love story to the people who ran it and the technology that made it rock so hard.  The Neve sound board console made the best albums of real rock and roll we all have come to love-- Neil Young, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Tool, Johnny Cash and yes, even Pat Benatar!

I was moved not just by the story, by the art that was made here, but by how it was made; the raw act of creation and how one gigantic machine full of plugs cords and techy things that makes my brain hurt, made the best music for generations.

For the love of a gadget, I wept.  For his respect of the board and the people that ran it, I was moved.  For the tale of how a piece of technology could allow artists to share the best of themselves, I am awed.

Do give yourself the gift of enjoying this film. Watch Sound City now!

And just in case you wanna dig on this groove some more... Here's a video on the Healing Power of Rock n Roll.

Woo Woo Word of the Moment :: Light Codes

I play in the light.  I sometimes can see light strings dancing from my fingers when I do healing work with clients.  My voice speaks in strange words and my hands unleash the most beautiful orchestral directives.

While this could sound rather odd, I've found it to be of the utmost benefit in my work.  The Angels deliver to me sundry gifts and this is just one more I get the divine pleasure of sharing in session.

The term "Light Codes" made no sense to me so I asked my Guides for an overview.

Our bodies, our DNA, is made of Light.  As we continue to move through 3d and into 5d, our bodies are shaking off the density of older vibrations.  We are changing at a cellular level so we can actually hold more light in our bodies.   The chakra system is changing a bit as older teachings (Egyptian mysteries and prior) are now becoming relevant again.

The Egyptians had a High Heart which in our current incarnations had no space.  In the past few months, I've actually been able to see new chakras appearing in clients.  I've been drawing these on my own to better understand.

As we move into higher vibrations, we can feel light headed and even giddy at times.  This is the result of more Light flooding into our bodies.   Forgetfulness can also be an off shoot so rest assured these symptoms will pass.

The vibrations on this planet have been changing in the most majestic of ways.  And while not every day feels as blissful, we must remember that we often have to dive into the mud to find the lotus within.

You Must Believe to Walk on Fire

My mama is walking on fire this weekend.  The heart-work of Tony Robbins challenges people to overcome the chattering fears of the mind and allow their sheer belief in themselves to accomplish the impossible.

I'm proud of her beyond measure and it got me thinking... healing work is no different.  If you believe, the healing is not only aided but is triumphant.  The more you can put into the session, the more resolute and lasting the results.    This is your work, after all and we (like Tony Robbins) just help you kick fear in the face!

Clients sometimes come in skeptical of the work we perform in the shamanic and energy healing traditions. And if there is doubt, the effectiveness is fragmented at best.

Maybe these limiting thoughts serve you... and it is in this scary truth that much healing occurs.  Why is it that you THINK you deserve less than glorious outcomes?  Why is a life of dissatisfaction feel safer than making changes that might bring you joy?

We must move beyond the brain at times to release and find our truth.  This is the only secret power healers possess... we have a toolbox that looks beyond the mental and societal constructs.

We want your healing to be powerful beyond measure.  We will champion you to release and purge whatever thoughts, ideas and beliefs are keeping you stuck.  The methods we use are time tested thru every culture in the world and existed far before pharmacology came into being.  We don't use hocus pocus, we use healing techniques passed down through the generations that have been effective and beneficial in providing relief.

This doesn't mean you need to buy in hook line and sinker with any healer you may encounter.  When you have done due diligence and found a energetic healing practitioner you trust, allow faith to ride alongside you.  Heck, expect a miracle and your Angels can come in full bravado.  Your own belief in yourself will make your session magic or meh.

We are your champions empowering you to shatter the barriers of your fears.  Shamanic healing only amplifies your natural confidences. You must have the faith in yourself to be rid of what ails you emotionally, spiritually and mentally.  When your belief in you is alive we can make miracles...  it's time to walk a life on fire, baby!

Be your own damn Master

I've always been leery of gurus. Though I recognize this is an ancient system of conveying teachings, the idea creeps me out a bit. I don't want to be anyone's teacher. I want to be a guide, walking hand in hand for whatever adventures spirit has in store!

My own quest for a teacher left me confused and dis-empowered…

For the first part of my psychic career, I held myself back from the many inspirations, thoughts and teachings I was receiving from Spirit. It was in my first round of shamanic training that the teacher stressed we needed a mentor in the physical world, someone to guide and protect us, before any deep spiritual work could be undertaken. I was receiving visions and messages on a near daily basis but felt like I should ignore them. In fact, the first time I spontaneously did mediumship (hearing messages from a passed loved one), I went to this trusted shaman and was instructed stop what I was doing until a teacher came along.

I prayed I would find my teacher, believing I was unable to share the breadth of my gifts with the world until one did. I was left confused and felt compelled to dismiss the teachings my angels and guides were trying to give me. Everyone held this man in high regard so I trusted his input. To this day a teacher (in this world) has yet to appear….

When I met Ann Drucker, a friend and beloved guide in Boulder, she encouraged me instead to just "try and see what happened" if I followed the messages. This lil nudge of encouragement, yea permission, from someone I respected was all I needed. I began trying out, listening to and trusting the messages and I haven't looked back!

Over the years, I've been told in nearly every psychic and astrological reading I’ve received that my life path is to be a teacher. I recoiled at the idea given my own dismissive experiences with teachers and guru types. However in 2012, my Guides suggested I be a “mentor!” This word shifted the energy from “guru” to “equal,” and I was in.

The Soul Mastery Mentoring Program allows me to share and cheer on others as they learn to use their gifts!

Here's what I've observed with teachers and some things to be watchful of as you choose your path...

  • A mentor can walk and guide but does not hold herself higher than the mentoree.
  • When working in the spiritual and metaphysical realms, its difficult sometimes to find teachers who both teach and practice humility. The ego is so very ready to jump in and take credit. Find the one who recognizes the work is what is special and not the teacher
  • Many teachers forget to teach! They may hold themselves in a position of power and believe they are giving the healing or responsible for the magic. Teachers get burned out this way and sometimes must step back from the work because they are doing rather than genuinely teaching their students. Teaching is a two way street and the work is ever expanding-- We learn from and teach to all the time. No one is ever a master and incapable of learning more!
  • The more we teach, the more we learn. Share everything and encourage others to do the same. Anytime you see a trademarked procedure or copyright, ask yourself if this is a genuine quest to protect the teaching (some things are not for the novice and need be protected in a way) or if its done from ego to credit the teacher and receive material gain.
  • It's easy when you experience something that feels magical, to attribute it to the teacher. This is never the case, it is always because of God/Spirit/Source and YOU. Anytime one tries to take credit, we must stop and acknowledge that we are simply a vehicle for the work or teaching
  • Often when a teacher encounters a student with gifts greater than their own, they are unable to champion and encourage without envious inklings rising up in themselves. Look instead for the teacher who is in awe of your magnificence and only wishes to help it blossom in you.
  • When you work with people who are energetically open and vulnerable, it is paramount that ethics and boundaries are clearly respected. If anything makes you uncomfortable, speak your truth and a true teacher will hear honor and shift with you.
  • Be ok with walking away. We outgrow people and we outgrow teachers, this is a sign of outer own development and should be celebrated.

magnificent souls ready to embrace their truth!

Heart vs Brain... the ensuing battleground

As a shaman, I often am confronted with the heart vs mind debate and find it's in the head where most people get stuck.  To say "shake it off" is really a challenge for some but, it is the key to moving forward and embracing greater change.  The crucial piece in getting out of stuck and bringing joy back into your world is living from the heart.

To get out of the head and into the heart can be for some the longest journey.  But if we can reassign our gorgeous brain a better purpose, we can free ourselves from the confines it ultimately creates.

The ground rules:

Our brains are powerful machines intended to guide and automate functions of the physical body.  The brain keeps our hearts beating, keeps our eyes blinking and tells our body how to break down food and turn it into energy.

Our hearts are the true master of our being.  The heart shows us what is in our highest truth, what is in our best interests and how we should behave in the world in service to ourselves and God.

The new energies on the planet are forcing our hearts to be the guiding force.  In heart there is truth, passion, joy and emotion.  In our head fear, thoughts, sickness and limitation exist.  Outside of the dictates of our brains, no fear exists.  Period.

Recently while working with a client, the Ascended Master Thoth came in teaching us that the brain is really nothing more than the sail of the ship.  It can catch air and direct, but it alone will only lead the ship astray.  It is the captain, the heart, that can safely get the ship and its crew to the right destination.

Our hearts, emotions, and feelings must now direct us.  Chills up your spine and  zaps of energy are atuning us with heart energy.  These physical sensations is our heart communicating with us!   Our heart can send messages of change and healing to our brain and it is time we let it!

TRY THIS:

Rather than trust what your brain says... those lil nagging voices that let you feel small... instead step into your heart and ask if this is your truth?  Are you really not good enough?  Are you crazy? Are they all gonna laugh at you?  Chances are not. But the brain, in it's quest to keep you safe, physically viable and alive, doesn't like trying new things, embracing new concepts or letting go of what keeps it feeling safe and comfy.  When we ponder new endeavors  any triggers we have may flood to the surface, in an effort to keep us safe.  These triggers are often felt as fear... and darlin brilliant one, fear is often just a thought.

Conquer those demon thoughts and allow your heart to step in to allow greater happiness, joy and experiences.  In your heart is your truth and it shall set you free!
